83 or 84 Hust/Olds???????
« on: June 02, 2013, 09:51:52 AM »
I have always debated between the 2.
+ the 83 had an option for the grey interior, its has the anniversary graphics & plate, blacked out headlight bezels & black grille. split tail lights (black very hard to maintain) 3000 made
+ the 84 had the chrome & black grille/headlight bezels, only cutlass with the black bottom, 8.5" rear end, rocket logo on tail lights & silver is generally easier to keep looking good(why I ultimately picked an 84). 3500 made

which year do you guys think takes the top spot for the 80s???????????

That would be like picking your favorite child, impossible!   :)  Both are very distinct and are way cool   8)

I agree with Brenda - tough choice, especially for me!  My parents have owned their '83 H/O since 1984 and it was the car that brought me home from the hospital when I was born.  But, I've owned my '84 since I was 13 and she is 100% my baby, so I guess my vote would have to be for the '84.  I certainly wouldn't turn down an '83, though!

Owners of '83's & '84's voted the day they bought their cars I suspect. Owners of '83's & '84's should not be allowed to vote, that would be the only way the result may be interesting.

Used to own one of each and hard to pic or choose between the two. You mentioned some of the differences which I do prefer the tail lights/back up lights of the '83s better. But slight changes/ improvements to the '84s made me tip the scale to the '84s.

So many variables to consider. As a non G body owner, I have some opinions. Both cars would be spectacular to own. In the past, the '83 was the more desireable to buy, and sold at a premium. I'm not sure how that has changed since. The 83 looks more sinister, the '84 more classy. The clearcoat burns on the black, the silver just fades.

I found an '84 with maple vinyl interior, and I still regret not buying it.

Another advantage of owning a 1984, you don't have a bunch of people at car shows complimenting you on your cool Grand National   :-X :-[ ::)

Never had an 83 or 84 H/O but I voted for the 83.
Put it in gear and stomp the pedal on the right!

I've always been partial to the paint scheme of the '83......
